Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse Police have arrested a suspect who they say killed a man whose body was found in the backyard of a residence on Furman Avenue on Saturday.

Police have charged Demetrius Huddleston of Fage Avenue in Syracuse with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

They initially arrested Huddleston on Wednesday on a misdemeanor drug possession charge for cocaine.

Police believe Huddleston killed 37-year-old Jermaine Whitehead.

He was arraigned in Syracuse City Court on Thursday morning and taken to jail without bail.

They scheduled a 3 p.m. press conference to address their investigation into the homicide.
