Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - The Syracuse man who had his winning $5 million lottery ticket stolen will be awarded the money.
A source at the New York Lottery confirmed that Robert Miles will be receiving his winnings in the near future after the ticket was verified.
Miles was scammed out of the winnings when he attempted to cash it at the Green Ale Market on East Fayette Street in October of 2006.
He was told by the cashier that ticket was only worth $5,000. The cashier gave him $4,000, saying there was a $1,000 fee attached.
The cashier, Andy Ashkar, went on to claim the prize himself.Ashkar was sentenced last month to eight and one third to 25 years in prison for the crime
