Syracuse sportscaster Red Parton dies
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Claude "Red" Parton, a longtime Central New York sportscaster, passed away Wednesday morning. Parton graced the local airwaves for more than six decades.
He began his career back in 1939 on the radio, and later spent part of his career as sports director on NewsChannel 9. He also did play-by-play for Syracuse University and Le Moyne College.
Red Parton was the first broadcaster to be inducted into the Greater Syracuse Hall of Fame.
