Syracuse woman arrested on animal cruelty charges
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- A new program in the city of Syracuse designed to help stop animal abuse netted its first arrest Wednesday.
This week, Dog Control received a female pit bull that was severely emaciated, dehydrated and had an eye infection.
An anonymous tip led to the arrest of the dog’s owner 35-year-old Marquette Jamison.
Jamison told police she knew the dog was in bad shape, but she couldn’t pay to care for her.
Jamison has been charged with two counts of animal cruelty.
Syracuse Police have appointed one officer to handle animal cruelty investigations due to the high volume of recent cases.
