Teen magazine features story about slain college student

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- A tragic story with roots in Central New York is making headlines in a popular teen magazine.

New Hartford’s Alexandra Kogut was beaten to death in her SUNY Brockport dorm last year. Police say she died at the hands of her boyfriend Clay Whittemore.

Now, Seventeen Magazine is featuring a story about the murder in an article called “Time Bomb Boyfried.”

The goal is to raise awareness amongst teens about violent relationships.

The article appears in the March issue of Seventeen.
