Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Syracuse Police have arrested two suspects who they say led them on a chase through the city Tuesday night.

Officers were responding to a call of shots fired in the area of Midland Avenue and West Kennedy Street when they spotted a car fitting the suspect vehicle’s description. That’s when the chase ensued, according to police.

“Observant officers, they see a vehicle and again anytime there’s a shots fired call it’s a serious type call and when you see a vehicle that may be involved it’s your number one goal to go ahead and find the people involved…recover any weapons and get them off the streets to keep the citizens safe,” Syracuse Police Sgt. Gary Bulinski said.

The chase came to an end in the 300 block of Warner Avenue and each of the suspects was taken into custody without incident.

The driver of the vehicle, a 15-year-old juvenile male, has been charged with unlawful fleeing of a police officer and reckless operation. He’s been released to the custody of his parents and is scheduled to appear in family court at a later date.

The front seat passenger, identified as 17-year-old Jonathan Daniels, of Syracuse, was issued a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt. Daniels also had an active warrant on file and was taken to the Justice Center.

A third occupant of the vehicle was not charged.

No one was injured in the incident.

Police don’t know if this particular incident was related to a school bus shooting earlier in the day, but say they are looking into the possibility.
