Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - While the Rescue Mission is filled with volunteers today helping to feed the hungry, other volunteers helped out on Thanksgiving by donating blood.
The Syracuse Red Cross opened its doors at 7:00 a.m. for people who wanting to give. 16-year-old Kyle Gabriel, donated for the first time and encourages others to do the same.
“I think anybody that can help and donate blood will make a big difference. You don’t know who the blood will go to, it could even be your own family member if they were involved in a crash,” Gabriel said.
The Red Cross says that during holiday time, blood donations can declide because of potential donors' busy schedules.
If you would like to donate, the Red Cross Blood Donation Center on South Warren Street is open until 1:00 p.m., no appointment is necessary.
