LaFayette (WSYR-TV) - Apples straight from the tree, apple fritters, apple pie, and apple cider greeted guests this weekend in LaFayette.
Growers enjoyed a bumper crop this year and visitors at the 41st Annual LaFayette Apple Festival got a chance to sample the goods.
Nearly four hundred crafters are on site this weekend, along with several rides for kids.
"It actually seems like there are a lot more people this year than there was any other year," said visitor Daniel Cross. "There are a lot of tents here with odds and ends you know. Just a good activity with the family outdoors."
Events continue on Sunday with the LaFayette Apple Run, on a farm overlooking the hills of Tully Valley. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. A fun run begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by a 5K road race at 9:15 a.m. and a 15K road race at 9:30 a.m. For details about the run click here.
The charge for the main festival is $5.00. Kids 12 and under are free.
