Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Time Warner Cable is showing off a new way to navigate its channels. The company introduced its new interactive, on-screen TV guide for digital cable customers in Central New York. It's called, "The Navigator."
The new interface is a free upgrade that offers new features for your TV.
Upgrades started this week and will continue through June. Customers will receive notifications before the conversion happens in their homes.
The changes are all designed to make viewers' lives easier, and were designed with high-definition televisions in mind. The graphics appear crisper and less cluttered.
The new guide will provide more information about programs. Whereas viewers were lucky to get a sentence from the old system, pages of information are now available.
This additional information also gives parents more control over what their children watch. The content of the shows is included in the show information. Parents will be able to block shows based on specific content. Shows can even be blocked by title, so kids don't even know what their missing.
The location of the parental control interface remains the same. It can be accessed by clicking the "Settings" button.
The upgrade will also make searching for your favorite show easier too. By clicking the "B" button on the remote, viewers will get a list of every show Time Warner channels offer. Then, the arrow buttons can be used to type a search word on a digital keyboard.
