Lansing (WSYR-TV) - A salt supplier in Tompkins County told 130 employees that they will be temporarily laid off after two mild winters.

The Cargill salt mine in Lansing struggled after the winter of 2011-12, one of the milder winters in recent memory, as demand dropped.

The company anticipates the layoffs to last through the summer.

They will begin on June 10. They expect to end the layoffs on Aug. 8.
