Tow truck operator hospitalized after being struck by car
New Hartford (WSYR-TV) – A tow truck operator has been hospitalized after a car slid into him as he attempted to remove a disabled vehicle from a roadway according to police.
New Hartford Police say the incident happened on Friday at about 7:53 p.m. on State Route 5 when a 69-year-old male tow truck operator was attempting to remove a disabled vehicle from the roadway.
Police report that 26-year-old Jessica Guzewich was heading south on State Route 5 and attempted to change lanes, but lost control of her vehicle and slid into the rear of the tow truck, striking the tow truck operator in the process.
The tow truck operator, who sustained head and knee injuries, had to be transported to Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital.
Guzewich was issued traffic tickets for violating New York’s Move Over Law, Unsafe Tire and Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance.
She will answer the tickets in the Town of New Hartford Court on a later date.
