SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV)

A tractor trailer drove into a railroad bridge in Syracuse on Sunday. The bridge runs over Park Street and is part of the CSX rail line.

According to New York State Police, the driver said he missed the warning signs for the low bridge as he was driving north on Park Street towards Liverpool.

After getting stuck at first, the driver stepped on the gas and forced the truck through to the other side where he could pull over off the road and check the damage.

The driver and his passenger are from California and were not injured. They work for Covenant Transport. A company representative had no comment as of Sunday afternoon.

There was a preliminary check of the bridge which is open.

A CSX representative will also check on the bridge Sunday evening.
