Trade workers profit from Destiny USA project
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- A state construction council is crediting Destiny USA with pumping millions of dollars worth of income to local trade workers.
The Central and Northern New York Building Trades Council says the expansion project provided hundreds of jobs for local union craftsmen.
Council President Greg Lancette says the unions were talking about some of the larger jobs in the region and they all kept coming back to Destiny.
“It started with a conversation…then I started scratching notes down and we suddenly came to the realization that there was almost 550 of our workers that have worked on the project and earned $27-million in wages and benefits and that doesn't even factor in the cost for the construction materials,” Lancette said.
The group says by releasing these numbers it shows there are good paying jobs for trade workers.
