SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - It is the season-opener for Syracuse University Football as the State Fair continues, which is why police are warning drivers to expect delays Saturday afternoon.

Kick-off time for SU vs. Northwestern at the Carrier Dome is at Noon. Because of ongoing construction in the area, police are warning motorists to leave early and to expect delays before and after the game.

They are advising anyone going to the game to avoid parking near the Dome, unless you have a parking permit. To avoid delays, they recommend using the Skytop parking complex on East Colvin Street. Skytop parking can also be accessed from Ainsley Avenue. It costs $10.00 and includes a free shuttle bus to and form the game.

Police warn they are strictly enforcing parking around the Dome. Illegal parking can result in towing and ticket fees that can exceed $150.

State Fair Director Dan O'Hara tells us he is working closely with state police to monitor traffic around game time, to make sure traffic around the fair is moving as quickly as possible.
