Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Thousands of power outages have been reported in the Eastwood and Lyncourt areas of Syracuse, as well as in Mattydale.
Syracuse Police tell us that a tree came down on power lines in the 100 block of Grant Boulevard. That caused an explosion at a nearby transformer, knocking out power to more than 10,500 homes and businesses.
Power is expected to be restored overnight. No word yet on what caused the tree to come down.
