Trenton town supervisor says no to plea deal in child sex case; trial set for May
Oneida County (WSYR-TV) – The town of Trenton supervisor has refused to accept a plea deal in a child sex case.
Trenton Town Supervisor Mark Scheidelman pleaded not guilty in March to sexually abusing a boy under the age of 11.
His trial date has been set for May 20.
Scheidelman had been arraigned on one count of sexual abuse in the first degree in Oneida County.
The specifics of the plea deal the former Oneida County Republican chairman was offered have not been released.
He has maintained his position as Trenton Town Supervisor. The 52-year-old has served as a Boy Scout leader.
