Utica (WSYR-TV) -- The trial for the man accused of murdering a 6-year-old girl last summer in Oneida County is underway.
David Trebilcock, 30, is accused of stabbing and killing his ex-girlfriend’s daughter, Lauren Belius, inside her Sherrill home on July 19.
Trebilcock waived his right to a jury trial, so the judge in the case will have to decide his fate.
The defense argues that Trebilcock shows signs of schizophrenia.
If convicted, Trebilcock faces 25 years to life in prison.
