Auburn (WSYR-TV) – The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men they say are responsible for a series of burglaries in the town of Sempronius.

The Sheriff’s Office believes 19-year-old Ryan Durkee of Elm Street in Cortland and 47-year-old Jeffrey Janack of James Street in Homer stole hand tools, generators, and electrical wiring from locations on Dresserville and Franklin roads, as well as Poverty Lane.

All of the thefts occurred in the month of August.

The two men were charged with three counts of burglary in the third degree, a felony. Sheriff’s Deputies say more arrests may be forthcoming.

Durkee was arraigned in Town of Brutus Court and taken to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.

Janack was arraigned in Town of Owasco Court. He is being held in Cayuga County Jail without bail because of three prior felony convictions.

Anyone with information that can help the Sheriff’s Office’s investigation or help recover the stolen tools should call (315) 253-3545. In addition, anonymous tips can be left at www.cayugacrime.com.
