Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Police say 36-year-old Jermaine Davis was "minding his own business" early Tuesday morning, when he became the victim of a senseless act of violence.
18-year-old Dondre Cannon and 22-year-old Daywon Adair are charged with stabbing Davis to death in the 1100 block of South Townsend Street.
Police say around 1:30 Tuesday morning, Cannon and Adair approached Davis and asked him where he was from. Davis told them he was visiting relatives in the area and didn't want any trouble and tried to get away. Cannon and Adair then followed him to a nearby porch and stabbed him. At one point, Davis yelled to his relatives for help, but they were too far away to hear him.
Police say Davis tried to cross the street after being attacked, but couldn't make it. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Authorities found Adair Friday morning at a local motel. He was questioned and denied being involved in the murder.
Cannon later turned himself in and implicated both himself and Adair in the murder. Police say both men had knives and are responsible for the deadly stabbing.
Police credit witness statements for the quick arrests in this murder case.
