Kirkland, Oneida County (WSYR-TV) – Two people were injured in a four-car crash Monday afternoon in the Oneida County Town of Kirkland.
Sheriff’s deputies say 19-year-old Elizabeth Quell, of Canastota, was stopped in the northbound lane of Route 12B waiting to turn onto Roberts Road when her car was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by James Brubaker, 34, of Waterville at about 5:30 p.m. Monday.
Deputies say the force of the collision pushed Quell’s car into the southbound lane, where it was broadsided by Angela Eastman, 33, of Deansboro.
Eastman’s car was then hit from behind by a car driven by 38-year-old Timothy Jordan of West Edmeston.
Quell suffered severe injuries and was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for treatment, before being transferred to University Hospital.
Eastman was also injured, but is expected to be okay.
Deputies say Brubaker, Jordan and a passenger in Jordan’s car were not hurt.
Everyone involved was wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation; Brubaker has been ticketed for following too closely.
