Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Within hours, Syracuse police arrested two suspects for separate shootings over the weekend.
Police believe 27-year old Juan Cirino, was on his way to Puerto Rico on Saturday. But, he made a stop in Philadelphia, where police were waiting, after being alerted by detective in Syracuse.
Officers say Cirino showed up at North Geddes Street, near Wilkinson Street and Richmond Avenue, sometime before 2:00 a.m on Saturday and shot two people due to a few arguments.
Alex Xavier Rivero Rosa, 20, of Syracuse was shot in the head and pronounced dead at Upstate University Hospital a couple of hours later.
Airstedes Lopez, 28, was taken to Crouse Hospital, where he was treated for a gunshot wound on his face.
Sgt. Tom Connellan said police arrived within minutes to find a large crowd near Rosa and Lopez, who were in the street.
Detectives in Syracuse went to Philadelphia to arrest Cirino at the airport where he'd been detained.
Resources were stretched thin, as investigators were also searching for the suspect in a separate shooting Saturday morning.
Around 4:30 a.m. officers were called to Midler Avenue, where they found 21-year old Larae Williams in critical condition after she'd been shot in the face.
Police say this was not a random shooting.
Minutes after officers were briefed at 2:00 p.m., the victim's 21-year old brother Lamont Williams was spotted during patrols.
He was arrested and charged with second degree assault.
Lerae Williams was listed in critical, but stable condition at the hospital on Sunday morning.
Anyone with information about either case is asked to call Syracuse police at (315) 442-5222.
