Damascus (WSYR-TV) – A preliminary US investigation indicates that 1,429 people were killed in a chemical attack in a Damascus suburb that they believe was likely carried out by the Syrian government.
Secretary of State John Kerry says that 426 of those killed were children. According to CNN.com
, the US says that 100 videos "show large numbers of bodies exhibiting physical signs consistent with, but not unique to, nerve agent exposure" in Syria.
The Syrian government and rebels in the beleaguered nation have blamed one another for the incident.
The US cites the Arab League, Turkey, and France among those who feel that something must be done in Syria.
Another traditional US ally, the United Kingdom, will likely decline to act after its parliament voted to refrain from military action in Syria.
