Utica buy-back program nets more than 200 guns
Utica (WSYR-TV) – Law enforcement officials on Friday announced the results of a weekend gun buyback program in Utica.
Police say they collected 201 guns – including 108 handguns, four assault rifles, and 89 shotguns and rifles.
The guns were purchased with money seized from criminals.
The purpose of the program was to collect unused weapons and keep them away from the streets.
The event was sponsored by both the Utica Police Department and the State Attorney General’s Office.
