SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) – Police are investigating a homicide on the north side of Syracuse.

A 911 call for a report of shots fired came in shortly before 4:30 Sunday morning at 1014 Highland Street.

When police arrived at the home, they found two victims.

49-year-old Angelo Jenkins was killed in what police believe was a targeted attack on his home.

A woman in her late twenties was also found with a gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. By Sunday afternoon, police said the woman’s condition had improved and she is expected to survive.

Police are not releasing the woman's name or her connection to Jenkins, but they do say there has been trouble at that home before.

"The house at 1041 Highland Street has been the focal point of police activity in the past, but again we don't know the motive or the cause of shooting at this point,” said Tom Connellan with the Syracuse Police Department.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Syracuse Police at 442-5222.

All calls will remain confidential.
