Voters test out new machines

For many of us, voting Election Day meant our first chance to try out new voting machines -- machines which will be the norm in New York after this Election Day. What was your experience? Leave us your comments.

It looks like they want to put the loggers back to work cutting pulp wood, what a waste of paper. The person or persons in charge of this should be let go. Hello, we are in 2009 not the 30's or 40's.

I like it, privacy folders would have been a nice touch. But, it was not crowded when I voted. I think it was simpler to do than the levers and all in all, I was pleased. After the two page pamphlet that came in the mail telling me how to vote I was nervous, but very self explanatory and quick.

I see with only 34 comments that people that vote must not have computers or they think is is the right way to vote. I would have though more comments would have been here.

Worked so well in the Town of Owasco votes in Cayuga County they still can't post totals! Will be hard for older individuals with poor eyesight. Can you say touch screen!!!!!!!

Fire the idiots who came up with this 1970's replacement! Less privacy, takes longer, no corrections allowed without rewriting ALL votes, etc. WHAT A BUNCH OF IDIOTS!!!! Flip the paper over so no one can see your vote?! WE HAD TO VOTE ON THE BACK TOO!! What idiots!!

In this electronic age, somebody, somewhere should be able to come up with something a lot more user and environmentally friendly. We need to challenge our young computer geeks to create one and become famous and rich for something other than creating video games! We all have the brains...I challenge you to use them!

My mother-in-law's ballot was held up in the air and read by the representative because the machine wasn't reading it. She wasn't offered a new ballot.

I voted for my very first time today, besides school elections in which we used the lever machines. What I don't care for, was that a representative held up my mother-in-law's ballot, pointed out each colored box to check she'd done it right because the machine wasn't working. She wasn't offered a new ballot. We were in Oswego County so we did have privacy folders.

All that's left is to have us dip our finger in ink to make sure we don't vote twice. Let's kill a bunch of trees and make pile of paper to do someting that we did quite nicely with our "obsolete"machines.

All your votes were detected. The system will tell you if you forgot to vote for a category, or not enough candidates in a category or whatever (or if it could not read your choice). That's how it works.
