Manlius (WSYR-TV) - She always wanted to fly, and at 87 years young, Jennie Halsey got her wish. The Manlius woman took a trip Monday in a hot air balloon.

"I just wanted to go in a balloon - And I was so happy to be up there. It was the nicest ride," Halsey said.

Halsey was in need of a little cheer. A dear friend had just passed away and a balloon ride was just the thing to lift her spirits.

"You have no sense of anything. You're just up there. And you forget about anything else. I did!" said Halsey.

Shades of red, yellow, green and blue carried Jennie and her daughter-in-law over the City of Syracuse for an hour long adventure.

"Oh it was wonderful. We saw so many things. We saw deer, we saw people playing golf and we saw these people going up and down trailing us," continued Halsey.

Jennie's colleagues at the Wynwood Senior Living Center were the ones who encouraged her to ask for her balloon-ride wish.

Jennie said many years ago she fulfilled another dream when she traveled to China. So what will she ask for next?

"Now I've had two wishes completed and I don’t know what else I could wish for," Jennie said.

Jennie's wish was made possible by the group that runs Wynwood Manlius, Brookdale Senior Living, as well as Jeremy Bloom's "Wish of a Lifetime." It's a non-profit that grants life enriching wishes to older Americans.
