Wampsville (WSYR-TV) – A DeRuyter woman who Sheriff’s Deputies believe was
high on “bath salts” during a violent confrontation has been brought up on criminal charges.
Nicole Campbell, 34, of Dugway Road, was arraigned in Town of DeRuyter Court on charges including obstructing governmental administration, a misdemeanor; harassment in the second degree, a violation; resisting arrest; a misdemeanor; endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor; and reckless endangerment in the second degree, a violation.
She was taken to Madison County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
According to Sheriff’s Deputies, they were responding to a report that Campbell was trespassing when they discovered her behind her residence half-clothed and hurling obscenities.
During the incident, deputies say she swung a golf club at them and then later threw a knife in their direction while they were talking to a minor inside the residence.
Throughout the incident, deputies say Campbell behaved in an erratic manner.
They believe she had taken bath salts prior to the incident.
The phrase "bath salts" is a street name for a synthetic drug that has been associated with numerous bizarre and often violent incidents throughout Central New York and beyond recently.
