Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Fire crews responded to a fire on Syracuse’s West Side that sent one woman to the hospital on Thursday afternoon.

Fire officials said the woman suffered "tracheal burns" due to superheated air in the burning structure.

The fire at the home on Delaware Street was reported around 12:40 p.m.

The woman and her daughter were already outside when fire crews arrived.

Fire personnel approached the blaze defensively because of the flames' intensity.

Fire investigators say it will be impossible to determine the fire's origin since the damage to the building is so severe.
