Munnsville (WSYR-TV) – The boyfriend of a woman who died after being tased in a violent confrontation with police says she had a history of drug abuse, and that he was surprised by her behavior during the events leading up to her death.
Pamela McCarthy's boyfriend, Jason Williams, described the scene the day after the incident in which McCarthy allegedly assaulted their child before being tased by police. McCarthy later died at the hospital.
Williams said he was next door when he watched McCarthy tumble down a set of stairs while holding their child. At the bottom of the stairs, McCarthy landed on the child, according to Williams, and then “grabbed him and ran with him.”
Williams also said McCarthy tried to take the child's clothing off during the incident.
Later, Williams said McCarthy was running through the street naked trying to retake the child while a neighbor shielded him.
Williams said the incident was the latest installment in a difficult relationship in which he had been accused of abusing the child, while McCarthy allegedly abused drugs.
“I told her mom, 'She needs help,'” Williams said. “My dad, everyone says, to get rid of her, just get rid of her because I tell all mean stories. I got nothing good to say. I love her…love her to death…then I seen that.”
The 3-year-old boy is currently in the care of Williams’ mother.
