Alaska - The Iditarod dogsled race is in its second day today, but when the race started this weekend, a local young man was the leader of the pack.

Noah Pereira of Clarkson won the Junior Iditarod last week in Alaska.

That earned Peterson, 16, the honor of ceremonially starting the race and riding in the first sled to take off.

Noah was the first non-Alaskan to win the race in its 36-year history.
