Feds Investigate Jeeps For Fire Risk; Chrysler Says No Recall Necessary
Washington DC - The government is expanding its investigation into fuel tank fires in popular Jeep models.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is looking at Jeep Cherokee and Liberty models for possibly defective fuel tanks.
Safety experts say more than 5 million types of jeeps made between 1993 and 2007 are at risk of catching fire if the vehicle is hit from the rear.
Chrysler says its safety performance is comparable to other car makers and that no recall is necessary.
