Many Local School Budgets Up For Vote Tuesday
Monroe County, N.Y. - This is the first year districts have had to grapple with the state's two-percent property tax cap.
The Monroe County School Boards Association indicates that most districts have stayed below the cap for some time.
Bigger problems include the loss of state aid over the past few years and expensive regulations.
A state survey showed 64 percent of districts plan to cut teaching jobs to stay below the cap.
