Penn Yan, N.Y. - A pilot and passenger narrowly escaped their plane after it caught fire while in the air Thursday around 8:20 p.m.

Sheriff's deputies say Kimberly Hanley and Gary Stevens took off in their single engine plane from a Buffalo Airport.

While in the air, their plane caught fire.

Hanley made an emergency landing at Penn Yan Airport where the fire was put out.

No one was hurt.

The FAA is investigating.
