Syracuse, N.Y. - Syracuse University has received $1.3 million state grant to install a rainwater collection system at the Carrier Dome.

The system will collect the rainwater that runs off the 7-acre Dome roof and use the water to flush toilets during events.

Other Syracuse rainwater harvesting projects are at Destiny USA Mall, the zoo, the War Memorial, and the Oncenter.
