Samurai Swinging Dad Misses Wife’s Boyfriend, Hits Son
Utica, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say an 8-year-old upstate New York boy is recovering after being struck in the head by a samurai sword swung by his father during a fight with another man.
Police in Utica say that 42-year-old Thar Kyi barged into the home where his three children were getting ready for school Tuesday morning and began swinging the sword at the boyfriend of the children's mother.
Officials say Kyi missed the boyfriend but struck his son in the head. The boy was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Kyi was eventually found in the Syracuse area and charged with assault, burglary, criminal contempt and criminal possession of a weapon. He's being held in Oneida County Jail.
It couldn't immediately be determined if he had a lawyer.
