Scam – They Sound Like State Police, But They’re Not
N.Y. - State police are issuing a warning about an over-the-phone fundraising scam.
It involves groups with names that sound like they're affiliated with the state police. They call private residences and ask for donations.
State police say they never solicit donations over the phone.
A recent investigation uncovered a group called "The Fraternal Order of New York State Troopers."
