Schumer, Cuomo Speak to Persuade For Aid To NY
Washington - It's up to Congress to decide how much federal aid New York will get to help rebuild after sandy.
New York Senator Charles Schumer and Governor Cuomo were in Washington Monday and say New York has always been willing to help others--now it's New York’s turn for help.
"Our colleagues are aware that if they are not fair to New York, New Jersey and the northeast-- if disaster hits their area next time and they set a precedent that there need to be offsets or they cut the amount of money we get in half or a quarter --that that could boomerang on them,” Schumer said.
Governor Cuomo said, “This state and this delegation have been there for other parts of the country when they needed help and we expect the same.”
Total damage estimates range between $30- and $50-billion.
