Syracuse, N.Y. (AP) - The New York State Fair had its lowest total attendance in more than 20 years. But it had increased paid attendance.

However, officials say that's because they gave out fewer free tickets.

Total attendance was down by nearly 72,000 from last year.

Still, officials say the number of people who paid the admission fee increased.
