Violence Against Women Bill Goes To Obama
Washington (AP) - President Barack Obama says he'll sign the renewal of the Violence Against Women Act as soon as it hits his desk.
House Republicans dropped their opposition and allowed the legislation to come up for a vote on Thursday.
It passed with a minority of Republicans.
The 1994 law was expanded to extend domestic violence protections to gays, lesbians and transsexuals despite GOP opposition.
