Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Syracuse police are warning local stores to secure their money and stay alert to distraction con artists. A Syracuse Vietnamese grocery store lost $38,000 to a group of nine men and women in what police are calling an orchestrated scheme that was all caught on tape. It happened Saturday afternoon at the A Chau Grocery Store, located at 936 North Salina Street.

In the video it appears the group is doing some shopping -- and some shoplifting. They take their time milling about the store before making their next big move – getting the clerk to leave the register. That’s where police say they discovered an unsecured bag filled with money and checks. Police say the checks were from immigrant families in Syracuse who were planning to send them to Vietnam.

Police call them distraction thieves and they swiftly move into a store to steal whatever they can.

“You see them come in, almost search the store to see if anyone else is in there and they start distracting [the clerk],” said Syracuse Police Sgt. Tom Connellan. “When they get her into the isle, they block her in and unfortunately in this particular instance, they score big.”

Officials say there was $38,000 in both cash and checks in an unsecured money bag that was under the register.

“These are people who could be staying in a local hotel. They might be staying here in town; by town I mean they might be going out to Camillus, or another suburb, people need to take a very good look at this and store clerks too. They might be the next target,” said Sgt. Connellan.

If you can help police identify the people seen in the surveillance video call Syracuse Police at 442-5222.

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Syracuse Police are putting you ‘On the Lookout’ for a man accused of violating an order of protection and threatening to put a bullet in his ex-girlfriend’s head.

The first time we profiled 29-year-old Timothy Williams in November as the Fugitive of the Week, the NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force got plenty of tips on where he could be, but they haven’t caught him yet.

“What we’re developing is that there are four or five people having him elude capture,” said Fugitive Task Force detective Keith Hall. “I think he just has enough friends that are willing to put their neck on the line. It’s just best at this time that he turn himself in and the people who are helping him out should understand they’re subject to arrest as well.”

Williams’ last known address was in Clay. He has friends in Liverpool and he’s been spotted on Syracuse’s West Side. That’s where police think he’s been hiding out.

Williams (pictured) is five-foot-eleven and weighs 260 pounds.

If you can help police find Williams, call 473-7625.

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Syracuse police detectives are launching new efforts to find a young woman’s killer. Jill Lynn Euto was killed 11 years ago this Sunday. The victim’s sister, as well as detectives remain determined to find the man who killed the 18-year-old woman in her James Street apartment on Super Bowl Sunday, January 29, 2001.

An FBI profile of the killer was done, and detectives are considering resubmitting all of the facts in the case to the FBI, for another review. There are more than 650 police reports, which are being reviewed and people who've been questioned in the past, will be questioned again.

There are more than 60 unsolved homicide case files that share space in the Cold Case Squad’s cabinets. But the the Euto case is the only one that fills an entire cabinet.

Euto lived on the sixth floor of the apartment building on James Street. She was living on her own for the first time, working two jobs and enjoying life until someone decided to end it in a very violent way. On that fateful day, Jill Lynn was found in her apartment with multiple stab wounds, but there were no signs of forced entry.

“It was a very violent, brutal murder and unfortunately her family found her,” Detective Tom Murfitt said.

Jill Lynn’s mother Joanne Browning found her and to her surprise, Jill Lynn’s Boston terrier “Hooch” was spared. The family took in Hooch and took on a mission to find her killer.

A reward for information leading to her killer’s arrest was raised and constant attention was given to the case until four years ago, when Joanne Browning died in a tragic roofing accident. And just two weeks ago, Hooch passed away.

Jill Lynn’s sister Jenna has her own theories about the killer.

“From what I know about what happened, it was deeply personal, so I believe that she did know the person who did this,” Jenna said. “I am hoping that with this cold case division, that there will be more leads and more opportunities for them to work on this case.”

Jenna says, like her mom, she’ll never give up hope that her sister’s killer will some day be caught.

Physical evidence will head back to the Forensic Science Center and the case is permanently featured on the department’s website. If you have any information on this case, call the Cold case homicide detectives at 442-5234, or you can now e-mail them at coldcasesquad@syracusepolice.org.

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Syracuse Police need your help catching a man convicted of criminal contempt for domestic violence. Authorities say he isn’t supposed to be driving and if he is, he could be a real danger to all of us on the road.

Police say 32-year-old Michael Gadsby has racked up 30 arrests and has some issues.

“He’s tested positive for marijuana, alcohol, cocaine,” said Joe Ciciarelli, with the Fugitive Task Force.

According to police, Gadsby doesn’t have a driver’s license, but that apparently hasn't stopped him from getting behind the wheel of a car.

“We're a little concerned that if he is out there, driving around, he could possibly injure someone,” Ciciarelli continued. “Mr. Gadsby had numerous run-ins with his girlfriend and he was put on probation for those charges.”

Authorities say he violated his probation shortly after his sentencing.

“According to the file we have on him, it looks like within a month and a half, he started to have problems conforming to the obligations set forth by the court,” Ciciarelli said.

Gadsby is 5-foot-11 and 140 pounds. His last known address was on Syracuse’s North Side. If you know where he is, call the NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force Tip Line 473-7625.

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Syracuse Police are putting you “On the Lookout” for a teen suspected of stealing a car in early November.

Police say the car’s owner had either dropped his keys or they fell out of his pocket while shopping in the 600 block of South Geddes Street . When he was done shopping, his car was no where to be found.

The very next day, police say the car turned up – upside down in the 900 block of West Onondaga Street . Frank Artis, 19, is suspected of stealing the car and crashing it, taking down power lines and causing a major inconvenience for folks in the West S ide neighborhood. Police say it was lucky no one was hurt or killed in the accident.

Artis wasn’t in the car when rescue crews arrived on scene, but police found his ID and they didn’t have to look very far to find him.

“As they were investigating it, dealing with the accident itself and downed power lines, one of the officers that had retrieved the ID, recognized Artis standing in the crowd of onlookers at the scene,” Sgt. Savage said.

Artis was arrested on the spot and later given a court date, however, police say he hasn’t shown up for court.

“We do believe that he may have been spotted in the area of Fitch and Dudley as early as last week, and ran from officers.
