The University of Alberta has set the new world record for the largest dodgeball game.

A total of 4,979 students, faculty and alumni donned green and gold t-shirts in order to take back the record from their United States dodgeball rival, the University of California, Irvine.

The University of Alberta invited Philip Robertson from the Guinness World Records to the school to adjudicate the event.

After the record was broken, Robertson presented the record to Colten Yamagishi, Students’ Union Vice-President and Frank Robinson, Vice-Provost/Dean of Students.

Residents of a small British town are being terrorized by an aggressive pheasant that regularly attempts to peck anyone who comes near.

A man who has won a George Clooney look-a-like competition in Ireland has left many confused because he doesn't look anything like the Oscar-winning actor.

27-year-old David Glendon beat 782 others for the title and some have wondered if the location of the contest, a whiskey bar, may have had a factor in the outcome.

Glendon has a certificate to prove he won and will also get to go to the Academy Awards. He says, "I decided to do it...for the fun of it. I'm delighted to have won. To go to the Oscars, well that would be anyone's dream come true."

A chef has created what he says is an aphrodisiac culinary treat - a pie made from bull testicles.

The pie is from an artisan ready meal firm Charlie Giham and contains only ingredients selected for their aphrodisiac and arousing qualities. Besides the main ingredient, it also contains "Mama Juana" liquor and ginseng.

The firm says the pie "...will give partners the opportunity to ditch the asparagus and oysters this year and create that perfect 'twosomes' moment with our one-off passion inducing pie."

The pie is only available for a limited time and costs around $10.

Champion skydiver Felix Baumgartner is preparing to smash several records as he attempts a death-defying leap from the edge of space. 

The 41-year-old from Austria plans to complete the highest-ever freefall jump made by a human by plunging out of a specially designed balloon about 22 miles above the earth.

The man who set the previous record in 1960, Colonel Joe Kittinger, is now working with Baumgartner's sponsor Red Bull on the project.

Baumgartner will be going for four firsts: the altitude record for highest manned balloon flight, the altitude record for a freefall, the distance record for longest freefall, and the speed record for fastest freefall (possibly breaking the sound barrier with his body in the process).

Baumgartner has been preparing for the jump since 2005.

Baumgartner's sponsor and backers say it's not all about records. They also hope the stunt will help develop better space suits, ways to cope with exposure to high-altitude acceleartion and to record the effects of supersonic acceleration on humans.

A spoof video showing a woman reportedly suffering from "Lazy Cow" syndrome has become an Internet hit after garnering more than 180,000 views on YouTube.

Gill Jordan's four-minute video features fictional mother of two Doreen, who claims a host of state handouts to feed her family.

Speaking in a thick accent, Doreen says she has a debilitating medical condition called "Lazy Cow" syndrome which she treats with heroin and cocaine.  She says she can't find a job because employers are prejudiced against her because she says she doesn't want to work.

Fans are now calling for her comedy talents to be given a wider airing and are likening her to Miranda Hart, who stars in a BBC show.

A British couple who won $16 million (£10 million) in the lottery are still claiming disability benefits six years later.

Former builder and Mick O'Shea and his wife Jean, hit the jackpot in October of 2005.  The couple still claim disability living allowance because it is not means tested.

Mick, who suffers from osteoarthritis in his legs and rheumatoid arthritis in his hands, also claims a new car every three years under the Government’s Motability scheme for disabled drivers.

Mick defends his disability by saying, "I worked for 40 years and I'm entitled to it."

The couple's neighbors say while it may not be illegal, it is still immoral.

Call center workers in Norway are protesting against a system that triggers an alarm if they spend too much time away from their desk.

Mangers are alerted by flashing lights if an employee is away for a bathroom break or other "personal activities", like cigarette breaks or personal phone calls, for more than eight minutes.

An employees union says the rules are "highly restrictive" and "intrusive" and a regulatory official says "each individual worker has different needs and these kinds of strict controls deprive the employees of all freedoms over the course of their working day."

The call center says the rule isn't to measure the amount of time workers are taking but making sure enough staff is available to ensure that all calls from customers were being answered. The call center says it is reviewing the policy.

It isn't the first company in Norway to implement unusual rules to monitor employee break times. One company made staff sign a bathroom "visitors book" and another another issued employees with an electronic key card to gain access.
