Anti-terror police in Germany closed down an entire terminal at Hamburg airport after mistaking a wrapped package of frozen fish for a bomb.

SWAT teams evacuated the terminal after police spotted two plastic wrapped packages that were apparently abandoned.

But as the packages began to melt, police say the terminal filled with the unmistakable aroma of rotting seafood.

"Luckily just the fish went off, not a bomb," says one officer.

Amanda Peet's pals have accused the actress of acting like a "serial killer," because she blacks out the windows at her home to help her two-year-old daughter sleep.

The Whole Nine Yards actress travels with duct tape and dark-colored sheets because her daughter Frances needs complete darkness to get a good night's sleep.

Peet admits she and her screenwriter husband David Benioff's bizarre behavior raises eyebrows among house guests, and hotel staff.

She says, "Some people think we take it too far - like we use blackout sheets. My girlfriend came over and said, 'Her room is really lovely - except you kind of seem like serial killers.' When we travel we bring duct tape and navy sheets, we unpack... and we proceed to tape them to the windows.

So I'm sure when the staff come and see our room at these hotels they think we're nuts."

Peet and Benioff married in September 2006.

A man in China says his wife forces him to eat cake for every meal.

The man says he was happy at first but now he can't even hear the word cake without feeling sick.

He says she makes all kinds of cake including egg, fruit and chocolate. He says he feels like a bakery trash can.

The man says he is threatening to divorce his wife if she doesn't stop baking.

A lucky cat owes one of its nine lives to a firefighter who revived it with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

The Massachusetts firefighter says the cat was rescued from a burning building and he says he immediately saw the cat needed air.

The cat was revived and is expected to be okay.

When asked what it was like to give a cat mouth-to-mouth, the firefighter reportedly said it tasted "like fur."

A team is set to drill through Antarctic's ice sheets in search of a lost cache of vintage Scottish whiskey.

The whiskey became marooned when explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton and his team made a journey to the South Pole more than 100 years ago.

The weather conditions forced the crew to be rescued and they left the Scotch behind.

It was discovered in 2006, but the ice pack was too dense for a retrieval.

Now, beverage company Whyte & Mackay has requested a team fetch the two crates of Rare Old brand of McKinlay and Co. whiskey.

They'll only be able to retrieve a couple of bottles due to a conservation agreement made by Antarctic Treaty nations.

Whyte & Mackay hope to replicate the taste and release it anew.

A Ugandan official has called for the bodies of dead people who died as a result of drinking an illicit local gin to be caned six times before burial as an example to living people.

The gin, called waragi, is distilled with a poisonous methanol.

Police say they are launching an investigation into the making of the alcohol that has reportedly caused more than 50 people to die in the last two months.

Caning a dead body is not out of the ordinary in Uganda. Those who commit suicide have their bodies caned as a form of dishonor and to warn the living against such acts.

An Arizona library finally received two of its books back from a former student, 51 years after they were due.

The books were returned to the library at Camelback High School in Phoenix along with a note and a $1,000 money order.

The note wasn't signed but the anonymous sender apologized for the books being returned so late and that the $1,000 should be enough to cover the late fees.

The long-overdue books were Community of Living Things: Forests and Woodlands and Field and Meadows. 

Some thieves got more than they bargained for when they stole a van from outside a circus in Germany, that had a sleeping lion inside.

They abandoned the vehicle after crashing into a road sign in the western city of Wuppertal.

Police later had the van towed away to a depot - unaware that the five-year-old lion was inside.

The lion appeared unhurt when a lion tamer arrived to reclaim him.  The thieves got away.

Students in a Massachusetts school have been banned from saying 'meep' in class after they continually shouted out the phrase and disrupted lessons.

Principal Thomas Murray sent a warning to parents that students who said or displayed the word at school could be suspended.

Murray says the warning was needed because students didn't heed his "reasonable request" to stop the meeping.

A Texas man blames a low-flying pelican for driving his sports car into a salt marsh.  

Police said the man claimed he lost concentration while driving his French-built Bugatti Veyron - the world's most expensive production car - because the bird swooped into sight.

A police spokesman said the driver dropped his phone, reached down to pick it up and strayed into the water in La Marque, about 35 miles southeast of Houston.

The man wasn't identified, but he escaped injury.
