Recap: Fordham vs. La Salle

Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - Chris Gaston erupted for 35 points and 16 rebounds, as the Fordham Rams rallied for a 67-62 win over the La Salle Explorers in Atlantic 10 play at Rose Hill Gym.

Gaston also finished with four blocks and a pair of steals. Incredibly, all but one of his 16 rebounds came on the offensive glass, while La Salle managed only 13 offensive boards as a team. Branden Frazier added 11 points and eight assists to help the Rams (10-17, 3-11 A-10) snap a six-game skid.

All five starters reached double figures for the Explorers (18-11, 7-7), who followed up Wednesday's tough 80-79 overtime loss to 22nd-ranked Temple by coughing up an 11-point second-half lead today. Ramon Galloway led the way with 14 points, although he was also responsible for six of his team's 17 turnovers.

The Explorers had the hot hand early on, as they buried six first-half three- pointers (50.0) en route to a 42-31 halftime advantage.

But La Salle went cold in the second stanza, connecting on just 1-of-12 threes (08.3) and shooting a mere 29.6 percent from the floor (8-of-27). The Explorers went the final 5:16 of regulation without a field goal, as Fordham scored the game's final six points to claim the victory.

The contest featured 10 ties and 18 lead changes, but La Salle simply had no answer for Gaston, who controlled the paint and helped the Rams to a 49-34 rebounding advantage.
