Recap: Cleveland State vs. Detroit
Valparaiso, IN (Sports Network) - Ray McCallum scored a game-high 26 points as the third-seeded Detroit Titans upset the second-seeded Cleveland State Vikings in the semifinal round of the Horizon League Tournament at Athletics- Recreation Center.
Jason Calliste added 13 points and seven rebounds for Detroit (21-13), which advances to play the Butler Bulldogs in the championship game on Tuesday.
For Cleveland State (22-10), D'Aundary Brown scored 17 points and Jeremy Montgomery and Tim Kamczyc netted 11 apiece.
Detroit got out to a 31-25 lead after the opening stanza by shooting 40 percent from the field. Cleveland State managed to make just 33.3 percent of its field goals in the frame.
The Vikings managed to come back and tie the game, 49-49, with 3:07 left on a pair of Brown free-throws, but the Titans answered on the following possession with a Chase Simon bucket to retake the lead for good.
Detroit helped themselves at the free-throw line by draining 19-of-23 from the stripe for the game.Game Notes
