Recap: Montana vs. San Diego
Missoula, MT (Sports Network) - A 3-pointer by Kevin Henderson in the final moments turned the tide for the Montana Grizzlies as they claimed a 67-66 win over the San Diego Toreros in non-conference action at Dahlberg Arena.
Henderson made 3-of-4 shots from three-point range for Montana (3-1) off the bench, while Mathias Ward led all scorers with his 23 points as the lone double-digit scorer for the hosts.
The Toreros (3-4) was paced by Johnny Dee who tallied 22 points, followed by Chris Anderson with 12 to go along with his seven assists in the setback.
Shooting 5-of-8 behind the three-point line in the first half, the Toreros led by as many as 11 points in the period, but down the stretch Montana fired back before a triple by Johnny Dee with just over 40 seconds remaining provided USD with a 32-31 edge at the break.
The second half was a series of runs on both sides, but with time running out it was a free throw by Dee with less than 10 seconds to play that put the visitors up by two, 66-64, just moments before Henderson knocked down the game-winner.
Montana survived despite turning the ball over 15 times and collecting a mere three offensive rebounds.
