South Bend, IN (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse, the nation's top-ranked men's basketball team, puts its unbeaten record on the line tonight with a game at Notre Dame.
The Orange fell 67 to 58, ending their 20-game winning streak.
At 20-0 the Orange were off to the best start in school history.
Fab Melo did not make the trip with the Orange because of academic reasons. Without Melo under the basket, the Fighting Irish out rebounded Syracuse 36 to 23.
Syracuse's 56 points was its lowest output of the season. The Orange also were held to a season low 19 field goals made and shot only 35.2 percent from the floor.
Notre Dame also drained eight three pointers, a season-high for the school in seven Big East games this year.
James Southerland scored the most points for Syracuse, tallying 15 for the night.
Syracuse's next game is Monday at Cincinnati.
