Differences between the Georgia Dome and the Carrier Dome
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- The Carrier Dome may be the biggest domed stadium in the Northeast, but the Georgia Dome is one of the biggest in the world.
The Georgia Dome has triple the square footage of the Carrier Dome and is 100 feet taller. It can seat 53,000 basketball fans and has hosted the Final Four twice.
The roof is made of Teflon coated fiberglass and like the Carrier Dome it has collapsed, but it was a severe rainstorm that did it – not snow.
And, unlike the Carrier Dome, which was named for an air conditioning company and is not air conditioned – Final Four fans won’t be sweating this weekend – the Georgia Dome has AC.
