Atlanta (WSYR-TV) – Louisville held off a Wichita State upset bid to advance to its third NCAA Tournament final on Saturday night in the Georgia Dome.
Russ Smith led the top seeded Cardinals to the 72-68 win over the No. 9 seed Shockers with 21 points.
The Cardinals had to overcome a 12-point deficit in the second half to get past Wichita State.
Cleanthony Early paced Wichita State with 24 points, while Carl Hall had 13 and Ron Baker scored 11.
Shane Behanan had 10 points for Louisville.
Louisville will play either Michigan or Syracuse – both No. 4 seeds
– in the NCAA final.
Louisville has won two NCAA basketball championships, in 1980 and 1986.
