SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) -- There may be snow outside, but it still felt like spring inside the Carrier Dome, as the Orange football team wrapped up its spring practices with the annual Spring Game. The Orange Team (comprised mostly of projected starters) beat the Blue Team 27-10 Saturday afternoon, in front of 3,822 fans.
Quarterback Terrel Hunt took all the snaps with the first-team offense, and did not disappoint. The redshirt sophomore finished 19-of-29 passing for 209 yards and two touchdowns. The highlight was a 49-yard scoring strike to wide out Jarrod West in the first quarter. The senior receiver finished with six catches for 82 yards and two TD's.
Hunt looks like the clear starter entering the fall, having separated himself in the QB battle in recent weeks. Seniors Charley Loeb and John Kinder split QB duties for the Blue Team on Saturday. Kinder connected with junior receiver Macauley Hill for a 14-yard TD in the 3rd quarter.
The Orange Team led 17-0 at the half, thanks in part to a very steady running game. Senior tailback Jerome Smith carried the ball 11 times for 34 yards in the first half, while George Morris III added a 39-yard TD run. The redshirt freshman has been one of the stars of the spring, and finished the day with 68 yards on 8 carries.
