New York (WSYR-TV) – The Syracuse University men’s basketball team took down Georgetown 58-55 in their third and final chance at Madison square Garden Friday night.

After losing twice to the Hoyas during the regular season, SU returned the favor tonight in the semifinal round of the Big East Conference Tournament.

In their final meeting in the Carrier Dome as regular-season Big East Conference opponents, the Hoyas snapped SU’s home-winning streak. Otto Porter led Georgetown with a career-high 33 points in the 57-46 win.

Then, in their final game of the regular season, Georgetown throttled the Orange 61-39 in Washington, DC.

The Orange now move on to the championship against either Notre Dame or Louisville.
