Rochester (WSYR-TV) – The Syracuse University men’s basketball team added another big man to its future when one of the top players out of the Rochester area committed on Monday.

6-foot-10 center Chinonso Obokoh committed to the Orange over Villanova, Texas, and several other schools around the country.

Obokoh emigrated to the US from Nigeria about two and a half years ago.

NewsChannel 9 sports director Steve Infanti said that Obokoh is considered a very good shot blocker and defender. Infanti believes the Bishop Kearney High School product will fit perfectly into the middle of the Orange’s signature 2-3 zone.

Obokoh is a senior this year. He will join SU in the fall of 2013 along with highly touted point guard Tyler Ennis.
